The United States support Georgian Government to modernize agricultural sector (November 24)
Ambassador Kelly met with the Minister of Agriculture of Georgia (MoA) and National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) to highlight United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) assistance to the MoA and Geostat to improve the capacity for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating agricultural data in ways that support farmers and agricultural businesses.
With the 405 tablets, 2 servers and computer equipment being distributed today, Geostat and MoA can help farmers achieve their potential to become business and export-oriented through the targeted application of technology. “The tablets and servers we are handing over today underscore the importance of technology and innovation in every part of the economy. They will be an integral part of the Geostat’s and the Ministry of Agriculture’s future,” said the Ambassador.
Under the USDA Caucasus Agribusiness Development Initiative (CADI), with funding assistance from the U.S. Department of State, USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) has been implementing technical assistance activities and worked with local partners for the development of agricultural markets in Georgia since 2005.
