Today, MAJ Colin Thompson, ODC Georgia; COL Maximilian Eder, NATO Military Liaison Officer; Mrs. Gvantsa Kvinikadze, NSPA Project Manager; military attaché of Estonia, Deputy CHOD COL Kbiltsetskhlashvili, and other distinguished guests attended a graduation ceremony at the Engineer Brigade Base. Georgian medics, from Engineer Brigade, graduated a two week Train the Trainer (TTT) course provided by US Army Europe (USAREUR) medics, Roscoe Hawkins and Kiersten Smithson, within the NATO PFP trust fund project GEORGIA 4, on basic/advanced Lifesaving techniques and procedures and how to use Medical and Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK) provided by EUCOM.
During second week, Georgian medics trained Georgian de-miners and EOD technicians on self-aid/buddy-aid with IFAKs.
EUCOM representative in Georgia, MAJ Colin Thompson from ODC Tbilisi and COL Mamuka Tskhvediani, GAF Logistics Commander, signed a document certifying that EUCOM donated medical equipment, valued at $75,000, to MOD of Georgia.
This training will help Georgian forces be more capable of providing emergency medical care in support of EOD and Demining Operations and be followed by a series of other exercises that will enhance relations between our Nations and interoperability within NATO countries.
