USDA helps Ministry of Agriculture to start New Surveys on Corn Objective Yield Estimation (August 10 – 28)

P1150699For the first time, the Georgian Ministry of Agriculture, with the help of theU.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), will conduct surveys on corn objective yield estimation. During the week of August 10-14, USDA experts conducted theoretical and practical training on corn objective yield estimation for Ministry of Agriculture Information and Consultation Center staff in Kakheti region. First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Nodar Kereselidze opened the training session and indicated the importance of timely, accurate and reliable statistics, and the importance of starting new surveys.
USDA will continue training sessions and implementation of corn objective yield surveys in Samegrelo and Imereti regions during the weeks of August 17 – 21, and August 24 – 28. Funding for USDA work in Georgia is under the Georgia Agricultural Policy Initiative (GAPI). GAPI is a three-year project funded by U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
