USDA Supports Agriculture Skills Development Among Georgian Youth
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) supported the Agro Camp 2023 organized in Kakheti July 30 – August 2. Twenty-one students of seven public schools from Adjara municipalities and Batumi participated in the camp. The participants visited a variety of Georgian agribusinesses including a dairy farm, olive processing plant, cheese processing facility, and more. The goal of the activity was to raise awareness about agriculture among young people, develop skills, improve capabilities, introduce the research component to the extension model, and support the sustainable development of the University Extension Center. Through youth development, the Agro Camp sets a positive tone for the long-term goal of establishing Adjara agricultural school clubs. This program is implemented in partnership with Farmer of Future, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara Autonomous Republic (AAR), and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of AAR.
