USS Porter visits Batumi (October 20)

kls On October 20 the United States Navy Destroyer, USS Porter arrived in Batumi. The visit serves to highlight the continued cooperation between the U.S. and Georgia by promoting regional peace and stability.

The ship will remain in Batumi for the week. The visit will include combined training exercises with the Georgian Coast Guard. In his press statement, Commander Blair Guy of USS Porter said: “For us it’s a very significant visit. This will be our fourth exercise in the Black Sea region. There’ll be opportunities to exchange ideas and work together. Thekl crew’s going to get a lot of benefit out of this visit.”

Commander Guy and LtCol Bill Conner, Marine Attache at the U.S. Embassy Tbilisi, met Archil Khabadze, Chairman of the Adjara Autonomous Region following a welcome ceremony. The group discussed opportunities for further cooperation between the U.S. and Georgia.
